Empowering the Poor

The Orange Christian Book Centre supports the Empowering the Poor initiative. We stock a range of gifts produced by Christians in needy communities. We have an extensive range of Empowering the Poor products in our new Bathurst store: Pilgrim Books, 225 Russell Street, Bathurst.

The products comply with fair trade principles and are hand-signed by the artisans. Many of the products are also made from recycles materials. Products include handbags, coolers, framed prints, journals, stationary, soaps, and bible covers.

Meet Lilia – Village Handcrafters cardmaker
My name is Lilia. I am 36 years old and married with 2 children, one boy and one girl. Our lives before becoming Christians and working at Village Handcrafters was difficult. We did not have enough money for our daily needs, even for food. This was mainly because of the addictions my husband and I had. I worked doing manicures but I spent much of what I earned on gambling thinking that this would help provide for us. I could not fathom how God had a plan for me to work at Village Handcrafters, a Christian company. Now my whole family knows the Lord and are active in the church. I’m thankful to the Lord and everyone at Village Handcrafters.
